Acceptable Use Policy

Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the ScanStar platform at my.scanstar.co and the online store at scanstar.co. By accessing or using any of our Services, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without notice or refund.

Permitted Use

You may use the ScanStar platform to:

  • Collect genuine reviews from real customers who have interacted with your business
  • Manage and monitor your business reputation across third-party review platforms
  • Store and manage customer contact information collected with appropriate consent
  • Access analytics and insights about your business performance
  • Share your Review Wall and StarPage with customers and on social media

Prohibited Use

You may not use the ScanStar platform or any of its features to:

Fake or Manipulated Reviews
Solicit, create, purchase, or facilitate fake, incentivised, or fraudulent reviews on any third-party platform including Google, TripAdvisor, or Facebook. This includes but is not limited to paying customers for reviews, offering discounts exclusively in exchange for positive reviews, or posting reviews from accounts that did not genuinely interact with your business.

Data Collection Violations
Collect personal data from customers without their knowledge or consent. Use the ScanStar capture page without providing customers with clear information about how their data will be used. Share or sell customer contact data collected through ScanStar to third parties without appropriate consent.

Spam and Unsolicited Communications
Use customer contact data collected through ScanStar to send unsolicited marketing communications, spam, or messages unrelated to the customer's interaction with your business.

Platform Abuse
Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, scrape, or resell any part of the ScanStar platform or its components. Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform in a way that disrupts normal operation. Create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits or restrictions.

Illegal Activity
Use the Services for any purpose that violates applicable law, including data protection law, consumer protection law, or any third-party platform's terms of service. Use the Services to harass, defame, or harm any individual or business.

Misrepresentation
Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity. Misrepresent the nature or quality of your business to customers interacting with ScanStar plates or pages.

Infrastructure Harm
Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any malicious code. Attempt to gain unauthorised access to ScanStar systems, accounts, or data. Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the platform or its infrastructure.

Review Platform Compliance

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of ScanStar complies with the terms of service of any third-party review platform, including Google, TripAdvisor, and Facebook. ScanStar does not endorse or facilitate any activity that violates third-party platform terms, and we will cooperate with third-party platforms in investigating reported violations.

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of the ScanStar platform that violates this AUP, please report it to hello@scanstar.co. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

Consequences of Violation

Violation of this AUP may result in:

  • Immediate suspension or termination of your account without notice or refund
  • Removal of content or data associated with the violation
  • Reporting of illegal activity to relevant authorities
  • Legal action where appropriate

We reserve the right to determine in our sole discretion whether a violation has occurred and what action to take.

Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this AUP at any time. We will notify users of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the platform. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
